‘The Fiscal Cliff is Making Us Sick’: Louise Cohen in The Hill
In a new op-ed for The Hill, PCDC CEO Louise Cohen describes how the “fiscal cliff” harms the 27 million Americans who rely on federally qualified health centers (FQHCs) for care.
Consequences range from an economic backslide to increased illness among the most vulnerable populations, according to Cohen.
She asserts that Congress can still avert a crisis by taking specific actions, including eliminating expiration dates on FQHC funding.
“No one wants to get sick,” Cohen writes. “But when we do, politics is the last distraction we need — especially when it threatens lives and livelihoods.”
