Exploring Primary Care Access and Outcomes in New York State

Virtual

1:00 - 2:00 PM EST

The Primary Care Development Corporation (PCDC) presented the newly released Primary Care County Data Explorer for New York. The webinar demonstrated the features of the tool by Angela Allard, MPH, Research & Evaluation Manager, followed by a panel discussion about the relevance of this data to policymakers and clinicians and how it demonstrates the critical need to increase investment in primary care.

The panel discussion featured Joe Telano, PCDC’s Senior Policy Manager, in conversation with Eric Gayle, MD, incoming CEO of The Institute for Family Health, and Thomas Green, Ed.D., Chief Advocacy and Engagement Officer at Jordan Health, two leading Federally Qualified Health Centers in New York State.

PCDC released an interactive online tool that allows users to explore the state of primary care in their New York county and highlights the significant geographic disparities in workforce, access, performance, and health outcomes at the county level. This effort builds on PCDC’s New York State Primary Care Scorecard, launched in 2024, which presented data about primary care in New York and highlighted the barriers, including cost and a shortage of primary care providers, that currently exist in the state, as well as highlighting the significant racial and ethnic disparities in primary care-related health outcomes.
