PCDC Completes $9.8M Financing for Construction of a New Northern California Health Center

Shasta CHCThe Primary Care Development Corporation (PCDC) has completed financing of a $9.8 million construction project to expand primary care access in Northern California.

The new 16,600-square-foot Anderson Family Health and Dental Center, part of the Shasta Community Health Center (SCHC) system, will accommodate 25,000 visits a year for primary medical, dental, and behavioral health services. When completed in fall 2018, it will more than double the size of the center’s existing location in Anderson, north of Sacramento. Construction is scheduled to begin in July.

Design for the new site will better accommodate a patient-centered medical home (PCMH) model of care, which emphasizes comprehensive health and support services. This team-based, patient-oriented approach has been hampered by layout limitations in Anderson’s current location.

Anne Dyjak“Shasta Community Health Center plays a vital role in its community, offering integrated health care to thousands in need,” said Anne Dyjak [left], Managing Director at PCDC. “At the new Anderson facility, SCHC will provide that care to even greater numbers of residents, and we couldn’t be prouder to play a part in making this happen.”

Serving a county of over 170,000 residents, Shasta Community Health Center treated over 32,000 patients last year, nearly 70 percent of whom are on Medicaid or the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP). Another 10 percent are uninsured.

“PCDC understood our specific needs and requirements,” said Dean Germano, Chief Executive Officer of Shasta Community Health Center. “The new health center will provide greater access to essential high-quality health services, along with several new jobs for the community. We have already seen signs that this commitment of new resources to the Anderson community will help encourage investment by related businesses.”

Financing partners on the Anderson project include JPMorgan Chase and Dignity Health.

“Dignity Health has a long tradition of working in partnership with  Shasta Community Health Center,” said Mark Korth, SVP of Operations and North State Service Area. “We see the outstanding services provided, and are pleased to partner with Primary Care Development Corporation in support of Shasta Community Health Center’s expansion.”

PCDC has invested $44.3 million in California-based primary care projects over the last three years, including this project.
