Physician interacting with patient

Primary care is the foundation of thriving communities—keeping families healthy, children ready to learn, and adults able to pursue education and workforce opportunities.

An increase of one primary care physician per 10,000 people can generate:

  • 11%
    fewer hospital visits
  • 7%
    fewer surgeries
  • 5.5%
    fewer emergency department visits
