The Capacity Building Assistance (CBA) Network
The CBA Provider Network is part of the Capacity Building Branch within CDC’s Division of HIV/AIDS Prevention. This branch provides national CBA and related resources for High-Impact HIV Prevention, which includes funding the 21 CBA providers who comprise the network. CBA providers offer free training, technical assistance (TA) and technology transfer to health departments, community-based organizations, and health care organizations in the areas of: HIV testing, prevention with positives, prevention with high-risk negative persons, condom distribution, and organizational development and policy.

The AIDS Education and Training Center Program
The AIDS Education and Training Center (AETC) Program is the training arm of the Ryan White HIV/AIDS Program. The AETC Program is a national network of leading HIV experts who provide locally based, tailored education, clinical consultation and TA to health care professionals and health care organizations to integrate high quality, comprehensive care for those living with or affected by HIV.

National Center for Innovation in HIV Care
The National Center for Innovation in HIV Care provides free training and TA to Ryan White-funded AIDS service organizations and community-based organizations to help them navigate the changing health care landscape. We help organizations develop strategies to improve operational effectiveness and implement best practices, to optimize outcomes along the continuum of HIV care.

The Clinician Consultation Center
The Clinician Consultation Center provides health care providers with a national resource to obtain timely and appropriate responses to clinical questions related to treatment of persons with HIV infection and/or possible health care worker exposure to HIV and other blood-borne pathogens.

The National LGBT Health Education Center
The National LGBT Health Education Center provides educational programs, resources, and consultation to health care organizations with the goal of optimizing quality, cost-effective health care for lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) people. The Education Center is a part of The Fenway Institute, the research, training, and health policy division of Fenway Health, a Federally Qualified Health Center, and one of the world’s largest LGBT-focused health centers.

National HIV Prevention Strategies

National HIV/AIDS Strategy (NHAS)
One of President Obama’s top HIV/AIDS policy priorities was the development and implementation of a National HIV/AIDS Strategy (NHAS). There are three primary goals for the NHAS:

  • Reducing HIV incidence
  • Increasing access to care and optimizing health outcomes
  • Reducing HIV-related health disparities

High-Impact Prevention
The Division of HIV/AIDS Prevention’s (DHAP) mission is to promote health and quality of life by preventing HIV infection and reducing HIV-related illness and death in the United States. DHAP’s goals mirror those of the National HIV/AIDS Strategy (NHAS). These shared goals are aimed at decreasing the incidence of HIV, increasing access to care, improving health outcomes for people living with HIV, and reducing HIV-related disparities.

Effective Interventions
This CDC website is designed to support High-Impact Prevention (HIP) using interventions with demonstrated potential to reduce new infections to yield a major impact on the HIV epidemic.
